Maria is an experienced Interior Architect and Design Lead based in Barcelona, with more than 25 years of experience across Architecture and Interior Design. Her career spans a broad range of sectors, including office environments, luxury residential projects, corporate branding and branch design for the banking sector, and retail and customer experience environments.

Over the course of her career, she has contributed to and led the design and delivery of a significant volume of projects across the UK, Spain, Honduras, and Colombia, encompassing many thousands of square metres of built space. Her experience includes working with several highly regarded design and construction companies in the UK, as well as private architectural and interior design practices and her own studio, giving her a broad understanding of projects from both the design and delivery perspectives.

She has held Design Lead and project leadership positions within established UK companies, coordinating multidisciplinary teams across different trades, disciplines, and nationalities. This experience has developed a strong ability to take responsibility for design decisions, coordinate complex requirements, and maintain a clear connection between the design intent, programme, budget, and practical realities of construction.

Alongside COBAR, she has continued to develop and deliver projects across different scales, taking them from initial concept and design development through to construction and practical completion. Her role has included close coordination with consultants and contractors, as well as site supervision during construction, providing continuity between the design process and its execution on site.

Her approach combines a strong attention to detail with an understanding of the wider objectives of each project. She is comfortable working through complex challenges, making decisions when required, and engaging with teams to assess issues and develop practical solutions. Her experience across different practices, countries, project types, and stages of delivery has given her a pragmatic and collaborative approach to design leadership and project execution.
